Own your own Mountain!
Are You Looking for a Remarkable Property in the Central Vermont Area?
We're looking for new owners for Sage Mountain Herbal Retreat Center & Botanical Sanctuary
Own your own Mountain! That was the ad that caught our eye 27 years ago. Hopefully, it will catch your eye ~ and heart and imagination ~ as well. After 27 years of caretaking and stewarding this amazing property we are ready to pass it on to the right person(s). Sage Mountain is a well-known 500-acre Herbal Retreat Center & Botanical Sanctuary located in central Vermont. We have hosted classes and programs here for 26 years, and literally thousands of people have come to love and appreciate the land and energy that’s here.
The property is set up as a small retreat center, and could easily continue to be run as one (i.e. outdoor center, cross country skiing, herbal, yoga, and/or spiritual center), but it would also make a lovely family compound and/or family estate. While extremely private and located at the end of a small county round, Sage Mountain is also very accessible and easy to get to. It is located just off a main route, 15 minutes from Barre, 20 minutes from Montpelier (the capital of Vermont), one hour to Burlington, and is 20 minutes from Interstate-89. For those who enjoy skiing, Sage MT is located approximately one hour from every major ski resort in Vermont.

Asking Price: $1,575,000. Please, serious inquiries only.
If you know of anyone who might be interested, please pass this information along. We prefer to not sell through a real estate agent so we can be selective as to who the new owners will be. Contact Rosemary Gladstar at firstname.lastname@example.org and/or Robert Chartier at email@example.com.
* If someone is interested, we're also willing to sell with most of the items we use for running the center (furnishings, equipment in the kitchen, office equipment, etc) and most of the larger equipment and tools used to maintain the land (tractors, plows, etc). We are currently in the process of doing some finishing work so that everything is updated (installing energy efficient windows, a new heating system in main house, and remodeling the downstairs of the main house); the price will go up to reflect the work as its done.
Please note: We are not selling the Sage Mountain Business that includes Rosemary's Correspondence Course, conferences or classes.
People became a bit alarmed when we posted Sage Mountain for sale, thinking, perhaps, we were selling because we were sick, dying, or tired of our herbal work. But its for none of those reasons. Its just that I'm in my mid 60’s and ready to simplify my life a little. I will, of course, continue to do my herbal work (teach, write, and continue my home study course); its my life! My husband, Robert, who does all the maintenance on the Mountain and keeps things looking as beautiful as they are, is in his 60’s as well and would like to spend more time hiking, fishing, and relaxing. We both feel responsible for this amazing beautiful wild mountain retreat and would like to see it be stewarded by people who have more energy than we do at this point in our lives. It’s all positive! For the land and for us. We will be very careful, of course, who we select to care take and own this Mountain. It has blessed us endlessly as well as hundreds of other people with its wild majestic spirit; my agreement with it is to find the ‘right’ new owners, in the same way that we were called here so many years ago by the spirits of Sage Mountain....
